This is my 15th book of this series. I started this series because of the TV show Bones, I was curious but I found it so different from the TV version that I don’t consider them together. Yes, TV Tempe is based on book Tempe but they are so distant that I don’t “immagine” TV Brennan when I read these books.
In this Tempe’s adventure, she finds four infant bodies in Montreal, which takes her in a small town in the Northwest Territories with her ex Ryan and Ollie Hasty who also has a bit of a history with her.
In general I liked the case and the twist at the end, but I hated the triangle. I wish Brennan would stop pinning for Ryan or better I wish the author would stop writing this romantic feelings if they don’t lead to anything. Maybe I’m biased because I watch too much TV but I’m tired with romance in thriller books. I repeat maybe it’s because I watch too much TV so I’m exhausted with this repeating pattern of this kind of story line but seriously, Tempe and Ryan broke up how many books ago? Just stop! Don’t get me wrong, I’d love for Brennan and Ryan to get back together but if this won’t happen soon I’ll be pissed and tired of reading the same old story.
Another thing I disliked is that Brennan gets always in danger and Ryan or some other unfortunate soul needs to save her. Every single book. She’s a magnet for danger.
Why I keep reading you will ask, well I like the series, those two dislikes are minimal in confront of the story, I like details Kathy uses and her styles, I just wish a little more differentiation with certain topics.
Curiosity: Tempe is reading an Ian Rankin Inspector Rebus‘ book which I’ve already read, for once.
