Good morning everyone! Today I have to post the hiatus message that I write every year in August. I’m going on vacation and so I’m sending my computer on vacation, too. But I won’t stop reading, oh no, I will read more this month (which I haven’t done in the past two months, maybe three) and I will start the reviews which will be posted in September (I only have one review already done and one in progress!! I have never been so far behind :P ).

During the month of August I will post only the Book Blog Hop and the new releases. I even scheduled a “Throwback a Review” for all month so you can read some old book reviews that I’ve done without scrolling till the end of the website.

If you want to follow what I’m reading, follow me on the new instagram just opened regarding this site, or my personal one where I mostly post photos of my dinners out and breakfasts (as well as a few general photos here and there).

New Releases Monday #22

In this category I will publish about new books, according to Goodread.com. Meaning that I will choose a book each Monday, from the “New Releases” page @ GoodReads. I will choose random covers that speak to me, that are nice or cute, without looking at the author, genre or synopsis.

Never Have I Ever

In this game, even winning can be deadly…

Amy Whey is proud of her ordinary life and the simple pleasures that come with it–teaching diving lessons, baking cookies for new neighbors, helping her best friend, Charlotte, run their local book club. Her greatest joy is her family: her devoted professor husband, her spirited fifteen-year-old stepdaughter, her adorable infant son. And, of course, the steadfast and supportive Charlotte. But Amy’s sweet, uncomplicated life begins to unravel when the mysterious and alluring Angelica Roux arrives on her doorstep one book club night.

Sultry and magnetic, Roux beguiles the group with her feral charm. She keeps the wine flowing and lures them into a game of spilling secrets. Everyone thinks it’s naughty, harmless fun. Only Amy knows better. Something wicked has come her way–a she-devil in a pricey red sports car who seems to know the terrible truth about who she is and what she once did.

When they’re alone, Roux tells her that if she doesn’t give her what she asks for, what she deserves, she’s going to make Amy pay for her sins. One way or another.

To protect herself and her family and save the life she’s built, Amy must beat the devil at her own clever game, matching wits with Roux in an escalating war of hidden pasts and unearthed secrets. Amy knows the consequences if she can’t beat Roux. What terrifies her is everything she could lose if she wins.

A diabolically entertaining tale of betrayal, deception, temptation, and love filled with dark twists leavened by Joshilyn Jackson’s trademark humor, Never Have I Ever explores what happens when the transgressions of our past come back with a vengeance.

If only someone had listened...

When the supposed suicide of famous Scottish football coach Harry Nugent hits the headlines, the tabloids are filled with tributes to a charitable pillar of the community that gave so much back to sport and to those less fortunate.

But something isn't right. Normally celebrities are queuing up to claim to have had a very special relationship with the deceased, but investigative journalist Oonagh O'Neil is getting the distinct impression that people are trying to distance themselves from Harry.

Oonagh's investigation leads her to uncover a heartbreakingly haunting cover-up that chills her to the core... and places her in mortal danger from those willing to protect their sadistic and dark secrets at any cost...

About the book

I would like to thank NetGalley and the author for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Yes, I admit it, it took me quite a while to read this book. Over a month. Because one, I found it slow and second in the meantime I read other books.

In this book a well-known football coach is found by his wife Sarah, hanged from the balustrade of his house. After investigating the fact, detectives find that it is not all as it seems and disturbing facts about the past of the coach come to the surface.

Oonagh is the journalist who follows the case even if not officially, but stubbornly she will manage to find the whole truth.

Unnatural Exposure

Unnatural Exposure

, Book # 8

Virginia Medical Examiner Kay Scarpetta has a bloody puzzle on her hands: five headless, limbless cadavers in Ireland, plus four similar victims in a landfill back home. Is a serial butcher loose in Virginia? That's what the panicked public thinks, thanks to a local TV reporter who got the leaked news from her boyfriend, Scarpetta's vile rival, Investigator Percy Ring. But the butchered bodies are so many red herrings intended to throw idiots like Ring off the track. Instead of a run-of-the-mill serial killer, we're dealing with a shadowy figure who has plans involving mutant smallpox, mass murder, and messing with Scarpetta's mind by e-mailing her gory photos of the murder scenes, along with cryptic AOL chat-room messages. The coolest innovation: Scarpetta's gorgeous genius niece, Lucy, equips her with a DataGlove and a VPL Eyephone, and she takes a creepy virtual tour of the e-mailed crime scene.

Unnatural Exposure is the eighth book in the Patricia Cornwell series, dedicated to Kay Scarpetta. In this book Kay is dealing with deadly viruses and electronic threats.

I’m starting to find this series boring, I have to say that I read this book last year and I don’t even remember what the main plot is. By now I think I am not able to tollerate Kay anymore, especially about the things that Particia doesn’t say or about things that she talks about but that happen between books.

But when did Kay have a mastectomy? Never heard of this… as I never heard of Mark’s death (which I will continue to repeat).
