The book had potential but as others have explained in Goodreads reviews, the last 20 pages just kind of ruined it. In fact they ruined the series. I don’t think I will continue.

The case is intriguing, or at least the one about Angela, why she was killed, etc. I know that if that were the only case, I would have liked the book more, but without the other murder, it would have been too short.

I don’t know what the author wanted to do with the ending, but the series continues so I don’t think it negatively affected sales. I know that if I had read this book when it came out I would not have continued with the series. And it’s a shame because I like the setting even if everything is so slow! But I like that it’s set in a little-known place.

There are some things I should write but it would be too much spoiler so that part just stays in my private review book.

I didn’t like the first three books that much, but more than this one, I think I didn’t like Peres and although there are 2 deaths I don’t see much investigation. Maybe I’m used to cases of great violence that these deaths don’t seem like crimes to me. I don’t know…

until chapter 36? 37? it was going to be a 5 star, the best Ann has written so far for this series but then it happened what happened so it fell very low and the average is 3 .
