Click the image above to know what this is about! It’s fun!

This week question:

Do the star ratings a book receives on Goodreads or retail sites affect whether you buy the book or not? (submitted by Flora @ Flora’s Musings…)

My answer:

Usually, no. Maybe if it is first in a series, but if it is not and I want to read that series, no, it doesn’t matter.

  1. The only time I take ratings into consideration when buying a book is when I am on the fence about it and if I am buying a book I haven’t read as a gift for someone else. But even then, l am more interested in reading a person’s thoughts on a book and not just the ratings.

Have a good weekend and stay safe and well.

  2. Thanks for answering my question, Laura. ;-)
Star ratings do play a part in my decision whether to buy a book or not but it’s more about the reviews, thoughts and comments for me. Unless I’m on the fence, but it’s Goodreads I trust over Amazon.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your week, stay safe and healthy.

    1. Hi Flora!

Yes, comments and reviews are what I read if I want to know more about the book (because sometimes I understand from them whether the book is for me or not) so I prefer them to star rating. And I go to Goodreads, too.

      Thanks and stay safe, too!!

  3. I couldn’t agree more – no ones tastes runs in exactly the same direction. I love smut, my mum hates it. Therefor why would I look at her rating on a book before I buy it? Same goes for everyone else out there. Lol I like to use a more judgmental tool for directing my purchases. The cover… eek.

    1. Exactly! We are all different! Reviews are better even if they are subjective, too.

      Take care ;)
