Jay Kristoff (born 11 November 1973) is an Australian author of fantasy and science fiction. He writes both for adult readers and young adults. He lives in Melbourne.

Kristoff was born in Perth, Australia in 1973. As a child, Kristoff read frequently and played tabletop games, including Dungeons and Dragons. Kristoff is 2 m tall. He graduated from college with an Arts degree. He worked in creative advertising for television for eleven years before beginning his literary career. He lives in Melbourne, Australia with his wife and a Jack Russell Terrier named Samwise.

And here I am finally reviewing the third and final book of Nevernight series. In Godsgrave, Mia managed to win the greatest games of Godsgrave and to kill her two enemies. This book starts with Mia running away with her newly found little brother from the Magni, but the Red Church is hot on her heels.

Godsgrave is the second book in the series written by Jay Kristoff which began with Nevernight. Mia Corvere, trained by the Red Church, is now a Blade, one of the most feared assassins of the Republic. She still has her objective, kill who murdered her “familia” even if for now she needs to obey to the Church’r rules. Moreover she is a tenebris and with her, inside her shadow, there are a cat and a wolf which accompany her in her vengeance. Mia can play with the shadows, but she doesn’t fully understand what she is and she’s trying to find out at the same time as she is completing the Church tasks.

About the book

How can I talk about this magnificence with my stuttering English? It is impossible to put on “paper” all the emotions, feelings, anxiety and anger (good anger) that this book gave me.

This is a fantasy world, an earth with three suns that never set and the night comes once in a blue moon (about every two years). The main character is Mia Corvere, a 16-year-old girl who had a trauma 6 years before when she saw her father being hanged because he was accused of being a conspirator against the Republic of Itreya (the name of this world) and her mother, with her infant brother, was imprisoned in the Philosopher’s Stone, the over populated prison in Godsgrave, the capital of the reign. Mia swore vengeance against the 4 men responsible for her family’s destruction and she’s studying to be admitted in a clandestine school, the Red Church, to become an assassin. In this first book we follow  her “adventures” in the school, while having some flashbacks of her previous life.
