About the Book
Ninth book in the series dedicated to Will Trent of which among, other things, I have just reviewed book number eight (and 8.5). A quiet Sunday in August is shocked by a terrorist attack in an area in Atlanta known for hosting the FBI, the CDC and two hospitals, as well as Emory University. Will and Sara are about to have lunch with her family when they feel the tremors. As they rush to the site of the attack, an accident stops them, so they provide first aid, but they soon realise that this is not a normal accident. In fact, Will can’t help but watch the thugs kidnap Sara because she is a doctor. What do they want from her?
Will Trent is undercover at Fort Knox. His assignment: to investigate a twenty-two-year-old murder. His suspect's name: Jack Reacher.
Jack Reacher is in Fort Knox on his own mission: to bring down a dangerous criminal ring operating at the heart of America's military. Except now Will Trent is on the scene.
But there's a bigger conspiracy at play - one that neither the special agent nor the ex-military cop could have anticipated. And the only option is for Jack Reacher and Will Trent to team up and play nicely. If they can...
About the Book
Will Trent is undercover to solve a murder case that took place years ago, while Jack Reacher is undercover to expose the plots of an army captain and his second.
A body is discovered in an empty Atlanta warehouse. It's the body of an ex-cop, and from the moment Special Agent Will Trent walks in he knows this could be the most devastating case of his career. Bloody footprints leading away from the scene reveal that another victim - a woman - has left the scene and vanished into thin air. And, worst of all, the warehouse belongs to the city's biggest, most politically-connected, most high-profile athlete - a local hero protected by the world's most expensive lawyers. A local hero Will has spent the last six months investigating on a brutal rape charge.
But for Will - and also for Dr Sara Linton, the GBI's newest medical examiner - the case is about to get even worse. Because an unexpected discovery at the scene reveals a personal link to Will's troubled past. The consequences will wreak havoc on his life and the lives of those he loves, those he works with, and those he pursues.
But Sara's scene-of-the-crime diagnosis is that they only have a few hours to find the missing woman before she bleeds out...
About the Book
First of all, please pay attention for triggers because this book contains scene that may offend the sensibility of someone. The descriptions are often brutal, the language isn’t always nice and talks a lot about violence against women.
Eighth book in Will Trent’s series. Will is a peculiar character, suffering from dyslexia, with a rather painful past and at this moment in his life, he sees someone from his past returning to mess up his existence again.
Karin Slaughter’s novels featuring detective Will Trent are utterly riveting and masterfully drawn. Her latest thriller, Unseen, pits detectives, lovers, and enemies against one another in an unforgettable standoff between righteous courage and deepest evil.
Will Trent is a Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent whose latest case has him posing as Bill Black, a scary ex-con who rides a motorcycle around Macon, Georgia, and trails an air of violence wherever he goes. The cover has worked and he has caught the eye of a wiry little drug dealer who thinks he might be a useful ally. But undercover and cut off from the support of the woman he loves, Sara Linton, Will finds his demons catching up with him.
Although she has no idea where Will has gone, or why, Sara herself has come to Macon because of a cop shooting: Her stepson, Jared, has been gunned down in his own home. Sara holds Lena, Jared’s wife, responsible: Lena, a detective, has been a magnet for trouble all her life, and Jared’s shooting is not the first time someone Sara loved got caught in the crossfire. Furious, Sara finds herself involved in the same case that Will is working without even knowing it, and soon danger is swirling around both of them.
In a novel of fierce intensity, shifting allegiances, and shocking twists, two investigations collide with a conspiracy straddling both sides of the law. Karin Slaughter’s latest is both an electrifying thriller and a piercing study of human nature: what happens when good people face the unseen evils in their lives.
About the Book
This is the seventh book in Will Trent Series. Even if I didn’t particularly like the first book, I really like this series. The second book was amazing and so the third (that for me means 5 stars) and the rest was good.
I need to say that this book didn’t “kidnap” me like the others, I found the chapters too long and I didn’t like undercover work. I liked Sara and yes!! No Angie here! (I despise her character). I wish more Faith and Will as partners, solving crimes together, but no, nothing like that here.
When Atlanta police detective Michael Ormewood is called out to a murder scene at the notorious Grady Homes, he finds himself faced with one of the the most brutal killings of his career: Aleesha Monroe is found in the stairwell in a pool of her own blood, her body horribly mutilated.
As a one-off killing it's shocking, but when it becomes clear that it's just the latest in a series of similar attacks, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are called in, and Michael is forced into working with Special Agent Will Trent of the Criminal Apprehension Team - a man he instinctively dislikes.
Twenty-four hours later, the violence Michael sees around him every day explodes in his own back yard. And it seems the mystery behind Monroe's death is inextricably entangled with a past that refuses to stay buried ...
About the Book
I don’t remember how I came across with Will Trent Series, I don’t recall if it was a suggestion in my Goodreads account or I just picked it up while surfing a bookstore shelf. I need to say that I didn’t liked the first book too much, but I really enjoyed the next ones.
All my book reviews are and will be 100% honest. I don’t get paid to write them and I don’t get “gifts” to write a good review so what I write is what I think. If I love a book, I’m going to say that, if I don’t like a book, I will write why I don’t. My critics aren’t an attack to the author, they are just how I feel about a subject or a style. See more in my Review Policy.
