Here some example of this coloring:
1. Open an image, select the part you want to use (I usually use the rectangular marquee tool holding down the shift key on the keyboard to have a perfect square), copy it (ctrl c), open a new document (ctrl n then click ok), paste it (ctrl v), resize it to 100x100px.
2. Duplicate the first layer (ctrl j), and set it to screen.
3. Add a New Adjustement Layer: Layer –> New Adjustement Layer –> Hue/Saturation… with these parameters:
Master: Hue: +12, Saturation: +34, Lightness: 0;
Reds: Hue: +8, Saturation: -27, Lightness: 0;
4. Add a New Adjustement Layer: Layer –> New Adjustement Layer –> Levels… with these parameters:
Channel: RGB; Input Levels: 0 1.06 255; Output Levels: 45 255;
5. Add a New Fill Layer: Layer –> New Fill Layer –> Solid Color… write 13173F in the color palette; set this layer to mode: Exclusion
6. Add a New Adjustement Layer: Layer –> New Adjustement Layer –> Selective Color… with these parameters:
Reds: Cyan: -100, Magenta: +100, Yellow: -100, Black: -71;
Yellow: Cyan: 0, Magenta: +25, Yellow: -17, Black: -49;
Neutrals: Cyan: 0, Magenta: +14, Yellow: 0, Black: 0;
7. Add a New Adjustement Layer: Layer –> New Adjustement Layer –> Curves… with these parameters:
Channel: RGB; 1 point: Input: 52, Output: 63;
Channel: Reds; 2 points: Input: 94, Output: 70; Input: 122, Output: 111;
8. Add some text, I wrote Girls kick Ass! in Dream Orphans, color: ffffff, size: 14px
9. Add a border: select all (ctrl a), then click Edit from the menu bar and choose Stroke; in the new window use these parameters:
Stroke: Width: 1px, Color: ffffff;
Location: Center;
Blending: Mode: Normal, Opacity: 100%;
And you’re done!
