Language Website Tips

I always wanted to have a double language website, I did have one a few years ago when I found a good plugin called Xili language (I think) but then it was discontinued (as all the plugins for WordPress) so I decided to keep the English version and delete the Italian one.

But having an Italian version was always on my to do list, I tried other plugins but each one of them has flaws and I always ask: “will they keep up with new Wordpess version?”. So I decided to look for another way to have both languages.

At first I thought of stop using WordPress and start using Joomla since this “script” has a way to have a multi-language website, but I didn’t want to learn everything again, how to use it and how to code a theme, so I looked around a bit more.

At the end I opted for the multi-site version of WordPress. I think it’s the best way to have a multi-language website.

WordPress Tips 2018

A few weeks ago, I coded my theme from scratch and I wanted to have my own emoticon like previously, but with the new WordPress I couldn’t without the same old plugin which wasn’t updated in years. Since I wanted to have up to date code, I tried a new one. But nothing. Reading online I discovered that now WordPress uses emoji, using scripts that are full of errors and making the website slow.

I tried to follow tutorials online but nothing worked…

Good-bye Spillo

Yesterday, about 2 pm, Spillo, my sweet dog left us… I was sad but I knew he was/is in a better place where he’s not suffering… Poor puppy he was always so tired…

In the meantime I opened 3 more fanlists, two are coming soon and two are pending approval ;) I’m thinking of moving the collective here since I don’t update this site anymore… Because I’m not inspired to graphic anymore (all fault to NCIS since it’s gone bad and broke my inspiration, too hope in it and it was crushed) and I don’t have the willpower to write articles… But I love wordpress and don’t want to just erase everything… and blogging in English is a pain… Maybe I’ll blog only in Italian from now on… Will see…

I think it’s done…

I think I’ve finished translating the site :shifty: … It took me a lot and after I deactivated the old language plugin I found out it added a div to my link page!! And I was freaked out X( because it worked a moment before… and then, poof… nothing :?: (of course I stopped freaking out when I found out it was the plugin…) so I changed the bookmark template again, now it works (can’t believe a plugin add a div!! but not a <div> and </div>, gosh no! only a </div>! now I understand why I had to erase it from the template, gee!)

So if you find some errors please report them! I tried to look at everything but I’m only human :P not an alien :smart:
